I think we have one of these threads before, but I ain't digging up no fossils
Anyway, lets use this thread to rant about things and get out frustrations out.
I'll start:
GUESS WHAT I DID TODAY?! BROKE OFF A 5 YEAR FRIENDSHIP? DAMN STRAIGHT.
So, I have this friend who I used to be really tight with. We'd really stay up till 6 am just talking.
She never used to be really religious, but she did believe a little. GUESS WHAT HAPPENED 4 MONTHS AGO? SHE STARTED LUSTING OVER A GUY? DAMN STRAIGHT.
So, I'm all for her having a relationship, that's great, I'm happy for her, really. Thing is, he's SUPER religious. And I'm cool with religion as long as they practice tolerance. BUT GUESS WHAT? IS HE TOLERANT? HELL NO.
He calls non-religious people "wordly." Anyway, she really likes this guy, sure, okay, fine.
Guess what? The guy likes her back. But guess what what? He thinks that some of the things she does and likes are too "worldly" and "spiritually unclean." But, surely this smart smart friend of mine wouldn't possibly change the way she is just so this guy would like her better. Surly. GOD FUCKING DAMNIT, SHE DID.
By this time she had only known the guy for a couple of weeks, and I knew what was coming, so I tried to talk to her before things got too drastic. I basically told her that it's great if she finds God and whatnot, but that she must remember to practice tolerance; just because people have different beliefs than you doesn't mean that they should be belittled and insulted.
I made her promise to remember that.
BUT DID SHE KEEP HER PROMISE?
HELL NAW, SON.
So, guess what happens next?
Every time I tried to talk to her about how her day was or to share a laugh or two, she's suddenly too busy READING THE BIBLE OR LISTENING TO CHARLES STANLEY ALL DAY EVERY DAY.
Reading the Bible, fine, that comes with religion, but you really can't squeeze in an hour or two to talk with a friend you've had for 5 years? Really? You have no time whatsoever? What do you do? Do you have a job? Do you go to school? What do you do all day?
READ THE BIBLE AND LISTEN TO CHARLES STANLEY ALL DAY EVERY DAY.
So, she starts blowing me off. Oh, and did I mention that when she actually DOES find the time to talk to me, she's either really pissed off or acts like I'm really stupid?
REALLY, BEST BUDDY?
REALLY?
So, she's all heavy into religion with her new religious "boyfriend," oh, wait, I forgot to mention...
THEY'RE NOT OFFICIALLY BOYFRIEND AND GIRLFRIEND, BUT THEY'RE OH SO TOTALLY IN LOVE WITH EACH OTHER AND LOVE READING THE BIBLE TOGETHER ALL DAY EVERY DAY.
Okay, fine, whatever, I'll talk to you later then since I seem to be annoying you.
So, we went from best buddies to mere aquaintences. But, do I give up? HELL NO, I'M GOING TO KEEP TRYING TO REPAIR OUR FRIENDSHIP BECAUSE I CRAVE THE ABUSE.
So, I keep trying to fix things, but do the get fixed? NAW.
Why don't they get fixed? I'll tell ya why.
I'M TOO WORLDLY FOR HER TO TALK TO COMFORTABLY.

I mean, really.....Now, sure, I don't believe in a God, but I'm tolerant and open minded about religion. I'm fully willing to accept her for being religious, I (used to) like talking to her.
Are you willing to accept me for for my beliefs, best buddy?....

Tonight I had the last conversation with her that I'll ever have.
I talked to her, I tried to see if there was a way for us to still be friends, if she wanted to keep being friends, I tried to convince her that she needs to be tolerant; because people are still people even if they don't believe in the same things you do. We've been friends for 5 years, best friends, partners in crime, remember those days? Don't you want to keep being friends? We can work through this...
NAW DUDE, YOU'RE SPIRITUALLY DIRTY. WE WERE FRIENDS FOR THAT LONG? OH, HEY, YOU WANT TO CONVERT TO CHRISTIANITY WHILE WE'RE HAVING THIS TALK? IT'S REALLY FUN.
Seriously. This was my last attempt to fix our friendship, but all she wanted to do was convert me...I'm not...kidding....I wish I was.
And I know that she only turned hard core Christian so that this guy would like her better, but she'll never admit that. NAW DUDE, I JUST PICKED UP THE BIBLE AND STARTED READING IT SUDDENLY FOR NO REASON AND LIKED WHAT I READ. IT'S JUST COINCIDENCE THAT IT'S AROUND THE TIME THAT I MET THIS GUY, REALLY, I'M RELIGIOUS.

Like I said, I was fully willing to accept her for her beliefs, but she wasn't willing to accept me for what I believed.

OH, DID I MENTION THAT FOR SUCH A RELIGIOUS GAL, SHE SURE DOES LIKE TO FUCK THIS RELIGIOUS GUY EVEN THROUGH THEY'RE NOT MARRIED! OH, I FORGOT, THEY'RE NOT EVEN OFFICIALLY DATING YET!!
AH WELL, IT'S OKAY. WHAT'S FIVE YEARS WORTH OF FRIENDSHIP COMPARED TO A GUY YOU'VE ONLY KNOWN FOR A COUPLE OF MONTHS AND GOD?

TL;DR: My best friend turned religious and now thinks that I'm too spiritually unclean to talk to and is willing to throw away our friendship for a religion that she's only into to impress this guy.
Ah well, If she values this guy she's only known for a short while over me and thinks that we can't be friends regardless of our beliefs, then she's really just not worth it.
Anyway, I'm not as mad/depressed about this as I was a couple of hours ago.
The kind bros of /v/ helped cheer me up with cute things and funny comics, and I made some new friends along the way.
