I felt bad that I never got a chance to put anything WMR-related in Fallout: New Vegas while I was working at BethSoft (there was a content-lock by the time I arrived), so I thought that making a mod for Fallout 3 would be the next best thing.

But I need everyone's help! As it turns out, making a quest/story using sound clips from the show is a lot harder than I expected. What I was planning on doing was having a simple quest in the game, started by one of the co-hosts (probably Brian), and hopefully involving the other co-hosts.

Below, I listed some general quest plots, and the sound clips I would need to make them possible (need for sound clip indicated by [SC]).

  • NPC is looking for someone or something [SC], player will offer/NPC asks player to help [SC]
  • NPC mentions something/someone that is causing trouble for them (people or creatures) [SC], player will offer/NPC asks player to help [SC]
  • NPC discusses mystery of some sort (e.g. murder, missing person) [SC], player will offer/ NPC asks player to help find out what happened [SC], player can exact revenge (optional)

At the end of all of these scenarios, the NPC starting the quest and any other NPCs involved will probably end up thanking the player for what he/she did [SC].

Here are some ideas I had, but I was having trouble finding clips that I could use for them:

- Brian is missing Greg, player has to go around and ask NPCs about Greg's wherabouts, look for clues
- Brian needs help resolving a fight between Bryan and Greg
- Psycox and Crabbi are somehow causing trouble, player needs to go 'deal' with them
- Brian is an addict (to cough syrup and red bull), player has to help Brian kick his addiction
- Greg is an alcoholic (the intervention episode?), player needs to help Greg
- Bryan or Brandon are looking for work, player needs to ask around and find jobs for one or both of them

If anyone can come up with a quest using one of the templates above (or an original one) and identify the soundclips that would be appropriate for them (episode #, and timestamp if possible), I would be eternally grateful, and you would be credited for your help.

NOTE that the soundclips I'm looking for are ones that are not going to be spliced together, i.e. making a sentence using a clip of BB saying "Evil Greg", and then a clip of BB saying "hates the world" from a different sentence.

Once we come up with a solid quest with dialogue, I will probably need to make special NPCs (other than B, B and G) to fit in with the quest. In that case, I will have ask for volunteers to be voice actors for these NPCs. If you have good recording equipment or otherwise have the ability to record nice quality, clean audio, then you are automatically eligible to be a voice actor. If you want to volunteer, tell me or reply on this thread ASAP so that I can email you with more info as soon as the dialogue you will need to record has been written.

Also, for every NPC we have in the game (could include Berris, Corpo, Greg, and Brandon), we will need basic lines dialogue lines no matter what. These include the following

- Greetings (already have these for Berris), e.g. "Hey", "What's up"
- Goodbyes, e.g. "See ya", or anything that has the same general meaning
- Things NPCs would say if player is attacking them
- Things NPCs would say if player is trying to steal from them ("Don't even go there")

In closing, any and all help that you can provide would be greatly appreciated.

Reply with ideas, sound clip timestamps, or anything mentioned above!

This is a really cool thing if you pull it off. I'm not a very creative person though. Good luck!

Im thinking a quest where the forgotten bugatti or misfits and mauraders have kidnapped 2/3 of the hosts, maybe brandon or someone else too, and you have to fight each of them to recover each host. Ill check for sound clips, but using brians descrption of each of the memebers as a quest starter, then I'm sure ill find good stuff for people to say when rescued. Ill see what I can do...I like messing around with sound. Also, you said no splices, what if its seamless? I'm adept at merging sentences as long as its from the same mic and sounds generally the same...

That's a great idea...I have to listen to that again. And if you really can splice things together seamlessly, then feel free. Make life easier for me! So I better get a move on in terms of getting the hosts ready. Right now, Brian just has some normal conversation topics, and says "bitch" and crosses his arms whenever you walk by. If you're a woman, he says "hubba hubba".

But in all seriousness, I really like the kidnapping idea. We could really utilize the AI and animation packages that come with the game in order to make this work.

Actually, I was seriously thinking of making an Oblivion WMR-themed quest mod.

It's too bad that my shitty laptop can't run Fallout 3.

There's a clip where Brian describes this bad hotel he went to in detail. Maybe a situation where he's trapped in it? Episode 87, it's called Circus Circus. Other episodes with hotels in it include 185 and 117.

This is a great idea. I'm going to listen to that episode right now and see what I can pull out in terms of sound clips.  And thank you for mentioning the other hotel episodes. You know exactly what I need to pull this together.

And @creep, Fallout 3 has radroaches...nice connection.

Everyone's giving me great ideas, the hard part is going to be getting the clean sound clips of Brian speaking. I'll give you all a progress update in a bit. Keep posting new ideas, and if you are listening to an episode and you happen to notice that there is a lot of Brian talking uninterrupted, tell me!

I love it.  Let me know if you need any voice acting from me or the co-hosts.

I didn't even think of FO3 as a shooter, but that's just my opinion.

Anyway, Vegas is much more like FO1 and 2. The feeling is the same as the first two games, but if you didn't like the gameplay style in FO3, then you're probably not going to like Vegas.
