Here is the guitar i just ordered from thomann, Fender Squire Bullet Stratocaster
YAYNESS

Squiers used to be like shit. Hope they got better. My first Axe was a black Fender Mexico Strat, I replace all the placstic parts except the pickguard with black ones. Looked wicked. I'm into acoustics and bass now though.

the squiers can apparently sound pretty good with upgraded tuners and a good setup, although I've played a stock one and I dunno, still has the fender twang but sounds pretty dull.

What acoustic(s) have you got GPM? I think I remember reading something about what you had, but that may have been recording tools.

Got an Ibanez bass (SR300 FM), a Takamine EG 531 C (hear on most of my WMR songs), and a custom Made Hoefner classical. I also got two Stagg ...83 classicals for outdoor jamming, ad Cajon (Schlagwerg La Peru limited edition), a Kazoo, a Mouth Drum, a tin flute, and an old Yamaha keyboard at my parents house.

I sold my Fender Mexico Strat 2 years ago and might get an semi-acoustic for slapping some day. If anyone knows what guitar that is in the picture, tell me. That things sound awesome in clean.

A cheap drumset hear is about $500, and that ranges up quite high when you get to the really nice ones. I spent all of my money on other things from the summer Tongue

Agreed. Don't save on the hardware (especially the hihat machine and the kicker) and the snare. If you wanna save, go for cheap cymbals, those are easy to upgrade. The kick drum and toms usually come in a set, so the choice depends on your money and taste really. Mapex is awesome for the price if you're into rock. Zyldian and Paiste are the good Cymbals in general.

For 500 bucks, I'd spend 150 on the hihat machine, 50 on cymbals (one crash, one hi-hat), 100 on a snare and 200 for the rest. Use a crappy stool, as long as it's not too high and you can rotate a bit on it, you're fine.
If you still want a full set: go Mapex. It's decent shit that won't be broken after 1 year unlike drumsticks. I know some metalheads that break 3 sticks per hours (head gets cut off by cymbals).
