No, Dec 21 or 22, 2012 is the date that the Mayan calender ends, so supposedly, this is when the world ends as well.  Keep in mind these people sacrificed people to their gods.  I think that whoever made the calender decided that making a calender that sees 1000 or so years into the future is far enough, and he just took a break for a while.
Well theres also that thing about the end of the age thing and Jesus only saying he'll be with us until the end of our current age. I think, just some dumb thing I heard once, I'm not one to care about religion nor agree with it at all.

wasnt there also that guy who had a fit and spouted all the names of the popes and our current pope is the last one he said? This happened like 100 at aswel. Ik.
